According to a recent report by the Washington Post, the CEO and chairman of Las Vegas Sands, Sheldon Adelson is making a futile attempt against online casino prime operations. Adelson is basically lobbying for the blockage and banning of Internet gaming in the country. His efforts in urging lawmakers to regulate the virtual gambling industry are backfiring to the entire bookmaking industry. Based on information from gaming analysts, his lobbying would only strengthen the federal law which in turn could ban and illegalize the entire bookmaking niche. Adelson has always been demonstrative and vocal about his opposition to virtual gaming. In a Forbes editorial interview, Adelson referred to mobile gambling as a societal plague.
The rigorous efforts of the Las Vegas Sands executive however are not making it beneficial to the entire gambling community and niche. For instance, his lobbying activities are not only banning the Internet gaming industry but the entire bookmaking field as well. Passing the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act which has been drafted in 2006 would mean several offshore companies will also be banned to operate. It is not often known but many offshore online casino prime operators are still serving theUnited States. According to analysts, banning Internet gambling is not the solution to stop players. In fact, it will only ignite the curiosity and clamoring of gaming enthusiasts who are into virtual betting and gambling.
Online casino prime operations are popular among contemporary players and punters. Hence, what makes Adelson’s lobbying more ridiculous and somehow deceitful would be rigging the poll to show that people want Internet gambling banned. According to an independent poll survey not sponsored by Adelson’s company, people are more favorable to virtual betting compared to land based bookmaking. Moreover, Adelson’s poll survey excluded three major states which basically legalized mobile gambling before this whole issue erupted. Adelson also claimed that Internet betting makes the poor, addicted and minor gamblers more vulnerable. Although it may be true to some, official studies showed that this claim is basically false. Players are becoming more educated and those who get hooked on Internet gambling have higher annual incomes.
