Bartenders Local 165 along with Culinary Workers Local 226 released official confirmation that the labor union already inked five year deals with Treasure Island and Riviera Hotel. Riviera Hotel and Treasure Island are formally the second and third independent gaming properties in Las Vegas which forged a contract with the unions. According to reports, the agreement is a replacement of the contract which expired in June 2013 however it is still subject to ratification by the Strip property workers. Also the previous week before the signed contract was finalized, Bartenders and Culinary also reached a brand new agreement with another gambling operator, Tropicana.
The labor unions have been actively settling new contracts with major gaming operators in Las Vegas with the likes of properties under Caesars Entertainment Corp and MGM Resorts International. Online casino prime sources also disclosed ongoing negotiations of the unions with major Strip properties and companies including Plaza, Stratosphere, LVH, 4 Queens, Binion’s, El Cortez, Jerry’s Nuggets, Golden Gate, Main Street Station, The D, Fremont, Golden Nugget and Brady Laundries. On the fourth week of March 2014, the union released information that they will be scheduling a strike authorization vote for properties which do not settle contract agreements with the organization. Based on the official statement of the union, the agreement with Treasure Island and the Riviera settled for economic packages which also reflect the previous contracts they have with other gambling operators and companies.
